SUMMARY:CNOT quantum logic with weakly coupled cubits\, R. G. Herb Con
densed Matter Seminar\, Mike Geller\, Dept. of Physics and Astronomy\,
  University of Georgia
DESCRIPTION:Effective protocols for performing CNOT quantum logic with
qubit devices coupled by particular high-symmetry (Ising or Heisenber
 g) interactions are well established. However\, many architectures bei
ng considered for practical quantum computation involve qubits or qubi
ts and resonators coupled by more complicated and less symmetric inter
actions. Here we investigate the general problem of weakly but otherwi
se arbitrarily coupled two-level systems\, and present a simple and ge
nerally applicable CNOT gate construction. The design will be especial
ly effective when applied to architectures with fast and accurate sing
 le-qubit control.
