SUMMARY:Field-induced anisotropy in specific heat and transport proper
ties of unconventional superconductors\, R. G. Herb Condensed Matter S
eminar\, Ilya Vekhter\, Dept. of Physics and Astronomy\, Louisiana Sta
 te University
DESCRIPTION:Specific heat and thermal transport under applied magnetic
field have been extensively used in recent years to determine the sha
pe of the energy gap in unconventional superconductors and the locatio
n of the gap zeroes (nodes). I will describe the theoretical underpinn
ings of these measurements\, our current understanding of the field-in
duced anisotropy in the vortex state\,
\nand discuss open questions. P
art of the focus will be on resolving\, from a theoretical standpoint\
, the apparent discrepancy between different measurements on the heavy
  fermion CeCoIn5.
