SUMMARY:Spontaneously broken supersymmetries in string compactificatio
ns\, Theory Seminar (High Energy/Cosmology)\, Hagen Triendl\, CERN
DESCRIPTION:Supersymmetric compactifications of string and M-theory ha
ve been intensely studied over the last years. One of the major questi
ons in this context is the appearance of perturbative and non-perturba
tive string corrections. In this talk I will explain that many of thes
e compactifications admit additional\, spontaneously broken supercharg
es that can explain the vanishing of certain perturbative string corre
ctions and lead to conjectures for the vanishing of certain non-pertur
bative corrections. I will give concrete examples and show how they ar
 e related by dualities.
