SUMMARY:The Weak Gravity Conjecture: Variants and Inflationary Implica
tions\, Theory Seminar (High Energy/Cosmology)\, Tom Rudelius\, Harvar
 d University
DESCRIPTION:Although the landscape of effective theories constructed i
n string theory is enormous\, the "swampland" of effective theories th
at do not admit a UV completion with gravity appears to be even larger
. The weak gravity conjecture is a family of conjectures that attempt
to delineate the swampland from the landscape. In this talk\, we wil
l explore this family of conjectures\, and we will see that they have
important implications for inflationary model building.
