SUMMARY:Anomalous Josephson effect in spin-orbit coupled Nanowires\, R
 . G. Herb Condensed Matter Seminar\, Gabriele Campagnano\, University
 of Naples "Federico II"
DESCRIPTION:Traditionally the Josephson current flowing between two su
perconductors coupled by a normal region <br>
\n<br>
\n(either insulat
ing or conducting) vanishes when the superconducting phase difference
between the two sides of the junction is zero. This property can be s
hown to be related to symmetries of the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations
\, the simultaneous presence of spin–orbit interaction and magnetic
 field may break such symmetries.<br>
\n<br>
\nIn this seminar I will d
iscuss the conditions required to have a finite anomalous Josephson cu
rrent\, i.e. a supercurrent flowing when the phase difference is zero.
In particular\, I will describe how this phenomenon is related to the
band structure and to the geometrical realization of the normal regio
 n.
