DESCRIPTION:With support from the National Science Foundation (NSF)\, 
 APS has trained women in physics to host professional skills seminars 
 for students and postdocs at APS-sponsored meetings and at universitie
 s and institutions. Professional Skills Development Seminars are highl
 y interactive workshops where participants will learn and practice com
 munication and negotiation skills.<br>\nThis 1.5-hour seminar will fo
 cus on professional skills that women need to effectively perform rese
 arch and thrive in physics\, including how to:<br>\n<br>\nNegotiate 
 a graduate\, postdoc\, or professional position in academia\, industry
 \, or at a national lab<br>\nInteract positively on teams and with a 
 mentor or advisor<br>\nThink tactically<br>\nEnhance personal presen
