SUMMARY:Solar activity and its influence on us\, Chaos & Complex Syste
ms Seminar\, Alex Lazarian\, UW Department of Astronomy
DESCRIPTION:The Sun is a magnetically active star. Solar activity resu
lts in inducing the solar wind as well as generating the energetic par
ticles. The solar wind affects the size of the heliosphere around the
solar system and this induces modulation of the galactic cosmic rays a
rriving to the Earth. Energetic particles from the Sun interact with t
he Earth's magnetic field and cause electromagnetic storms. I shall di
scuss how the Sun affects the Earth ecosystem.
\n
