SUMMARY:Unlocking the Higgs portal with exotic Higgs decays\, NPAC (Nu
 clear/Particle/Astro/Cosmo) Forum\, Verena Martinez\, UMASS Amherst
DESCRIPTION:Following the discovery of the Higgs boson at the Large Ha
dron Collider (LHC)\, a major goal is to characterize the properties o
f this new particle. The Higgs itself is a potential portal to new phy
sics\, providing connections between the Standard Model of particle ph
ysics and new phenomena\, such as signatures of dark matter. Searches
for new decays of the Higgs boson will be described using data collect
ed by the ATLAS experiment and future prospects will be discussed.
