SUMMARY:The Impact of a Midband Gravitational Wave Experiment On Detec
tability of Cosmological Stochastic Gravitational Wave Backgrounds\, T
heory Seminar (High Energy/Cosmology)\, Yanou Cui\, UC Riverside
DESCRIPTION:I will discuss the impact of a future midband gravitationa
l wave experiment on improving detectability of a cosmologically sourc
ed stochastic GW background. Specific proposed midband experiments con
sidered are TianGo\, B-DECIGO and AEDGE. We propose a combined power-l
aw integrated sensitivity (CPLS) curve combining GW experiments over d
ifferent frequency bands\, which shows significant improvement in sens
itivity to SGWBs with the aid of a midband experiment. We consider GW
emission from cosmic strings and phase transitions as benchmark exampl
es of cosmological SGWBs. We explicitly model various astrophysical SG
WB sources\, most importantly from unresolved black hole mergers. Base
d on analysis using Markov Chain Monte Carlo\, we demonstrated that mi
dband experiments can\, when combined with LIGO A+ and LISA\, can sign
ificantly improve sensitivities to cosmological SGWBs and better separ
 ate them from astrophysical SGWBs.
