SUMMARY:Simulating Galaxy Formation\, Astronomy Colloquium\, Mark Voge
 lsberger\, MIT
DESCRIPTION:Cosmological simulations of galaxy formation have evolved
significantly over the last years. In my talk I will describe recent e
fforts to model the large-scale distribution of galaxies with cosmolog
ical hydrodynamics simulations. I will focus on large-scale simulation
s like IllustrisTNG. After demonstrating the success of these simulati
 ons in terms of
\nreproducing an enormous amount of observational data
\, I will also talk about their limitations and directions for further
improvements over the next couple of years. <br>
\n<br>
\nZoom Link:<
