SUMMARY:Explaining Neural Scaling Laws\, Physics ∩ ML Seminar\, Etha
 n Dyer\, Google
DESCRIPTION:Neural networks exhibit systematic\, empirically predictab
le\, performance gains as a function of dataset and model size over ma
ny orders of magnitude. I will discuss recent work attempting to under
stand the origin of these neural scaling laws in deep neural networks
 and solvable models.
