SUMMARY:Jet Timing\, Theory Seminar (High Energy/Cosmology)\, Matthew
 Low\, University of Pittsburgh
DESCRIPTION:The measurement of the arrival time of a particle\, such a
s a lepton or photon\, reaching the detector provides valuable informa
tion. A similar measurement for a hadronic final state\, however\, is
much more challenging as one has to extract the relevant information f
rom a collection of particles. In this talk\, I will explore the most
effective ways to combine the times of particles into a single time f
or a jet. First\, prompt jets will be discussed\, then the more compl
icated case of delayed jets will be studied. Choosing a good definiti
on of the time of a jet offers a new complementarity probe into hadron
 ic physics at colliders.
\n
\nNote: This is a hybrid event. A zoom lin
k will be distributed via the seminar mailing list. To join\, email th
 e organizer.
