SUMMARY:The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope and its H4RG-10 Detector
s\, Astronomy Colloquium Zoom Talk\, Gregory Mosby\, NASA
DESCRIPTION:We have learned that our universe seems to be composed of
significant amounts of invisible matter called dark matter and an unex
pected dark energy driving the universe’s accelerating expansion. In
the last few decades\, we have also uncovered large populations of ne
w worlds called exoplanets orbiting the stars of our Galaxy. These dis
coveries represent just a sample of the mysteries to investigate in ou
r efforts to understand the universe. And to understand the universe\,
we must understand all its components. The Nancy Grace Roman Space Te
lescope will support this effort. The Roman Space Telescope with its W
ide Field Instrument and the Coronagraph Instrument will help us study
dark matter\, dark energy\, exoplanets\, and more at infrared wavelen
gths. At the heart of the Roman Space Telescope are 18 newly designed
infrared detectors the H4RG-10s. These detectors represent the state o
f the art in space-based detector technology. We will review the devel
opment and the performance of the flight lot detectors for the Roman S
pace Telescope\, and we’ll cover the latest news from the project. T
he Roman Space Telescope will be an asset in the next decade\, providi
ng unprecedented wide and sensitive infrared surveys of the sky. These
surveys by Roman will be key in helping us answer the open questions
 about the universe.
\n
\nThis is a virtual talk. Please see the link b
