SUMMARY:JFI Seminar: Topological Solitons in Chiral Quantum Matter\, W
isconsin Quantum Institute\, Christos Panagopoulos\, Nanyang Technolog
 ical University Singapore
DESCRIPTION:Topological solitons and quantum mechanics have been inter
twined for the past 60 years. even before the term soliton had been co
ined\, abrikosov’s theory predicted the formation of vortices in the
phase field of superconductors\, an exemplar exposition of macroscopi
c quantum coherence. recent work shows that solitons are in fact a tim
ely and promising platform for quantum operations. in the first part o
f the talk\, i will demonstrate the viability of using spin topology t
o influence a superconductor at selective length scales. this includes
adaptable recipes for fluxonics and chiral superconductivity\, as wel
l as quantum processes such as non-perturbative\, non-contact majorana
braiding. in the second part\, i will introduce a new class of buildi
ng blocks for realizing quantum logic elements. namely\, nano-skyrmion
s in triangular magnets developing quantized helicity excitations with
well-separated energy levels and distinct out-of-plane magnetizations
