SUMMARY:The Roman Galactic Exoplanet Survey\, Astronomy Colloquium\, P
rof. Scott Gaudi\, Ohio State University
DESCRIPTION:I summarize the scientific motivation and properties of th
e Roman Galactic Exoplanet Survey (RGES)\, one possible realization of
the Galactic Bulge Time Domain Survey\, which itself is one of three
core community surveys that will be carried out with NASA’s Nancy Ro
man Space Telescope (Roman). The notional RGES survey will consist of
photometric monitoring of a ~2 sq. degree area toward the Galactic bul
ge every 15 minutes in a wide\, 1-2 micron filter in order to search f
or cold planets using gravitational microlensing. The survey will cons
ist of six ~72-day seasons\, with most of the seasons being concentrat
ed early and late in the nominal 5-year Roman prime mission. I will su
mmarize the expected yield of the RGES survey\, and then describe futu
re activities in preparation for\, and further definition of\, the Gal
 actic Bulge Time Domain Survey.
