SUMMARY:Sharpening Weak Gravity Bounds with Charged Superradiance\, Th
eory Seminar (High Energy/Cosmology)\, Lars Aalsma\, Arizona State Uni
 versity
DESCRIPTION: A growing body of evidence suggests that to couple an eff
ective theory to quantum gravity it needs to satisfy the Weak Gravity
Conjecture (WGC). Although best understood in flat space\, generalizat
ions of the WGC to other spacetimes such as (anti) de Sitter space exi
st\, although this typically leads to undetermined O(1) factors. In th
is talk\, I will give a new perspective on the WGC by relating it to t
he absence of a black hole instability known as charged superradiance.
I will present preliminary results that suggest that this gives a uni
fying picture of the WGC in flat space\, de Sitter and AdS which fixes
  the O(1) constants.<br>
\n
