SUMMARY:Quantum Computation with Neutral Rubidium and Cesium Atoms\, P
reliminary Exam\, Sam Norrell\, Physics PhD Graduate Student
DESCRIPTION:Arrays of individual trapped neutral alkali atoms provide
a promising platform for the realization of a quantum computer. In thi
s talk\, I will report on progress towards the creation of one such de
vice utilizing both rubidium and cesium atoms\, showing preliminary ex
perimental findings. Additionally\, I will present theoretical calcula
tions of interactions between individual rubidium and cesium atoms and
the applications of these interactions towards quantum computation an
 d error correction.
