SUMMARY:Engineering a topological quantum computer\, Wisconsin Quantum
 Institute Colloquium\, Brad Lackey\, Microsoft
DESCRIPTION:
I will provide a high-level introduction to Majorana qu
bits and show some recent experimental results at Microsoft that reali
ze these in nanowire devices. I will then present a potential computin
g stack for a topological quantum computer based on Majorana qubits an
d provide some estimates about the capabilities of such a machine on s
ome applications of scientific and industrial value.
\n
This eve
nt starts at 3:30pm with refreshments\, followed at 3:45pm by a short
presentation titled "Efficient implementation of qLDPC codes with neut
ral atom qubits"\, by Cody Poole (Saffman group). The invited presenta
tion starts at 4pm.
