Postdoctoral position in experimental quantum error correction with neutral atoms — Saffman Group

Contact Mark Saffman at msaffman@wisc.edu for more information.

Postdoctoral position for quantum computing algorithm development and/or theory of ultracold collisions — Soley Group

The candidate should hold a PhD in chemistry, physics, applied mathematics, computer science, or a similar field. Applicants with a background in quantum computing algorithm development, theoretical or computational quantum dynamics, and/or quantum scattering theory in near-threshold systems are encouraged to apply. The Soley Research Group focuses on state-of-the-art research in quantum computing algorithms, ultracold chemistry, and atomic and molecular physics. Previous research areas have also included tensor network/matrix product states for highly multidimensional quantum mechanics and high performance computing/supercomputing for parallelized simulations of chaotic systems. Postdoctoral researchers will be paid a competitive stipend with benefits in accordance with University of Wisconsin-Madison policy and have opportunities to collaborate with theorists and experimentalists and participate in the greater quantum community via the group’s affiliations with the Chicago Quantum Exchange and Wisconsin Quantum Institute. Interested applicants are invited to send a CV, statement of research interests, and contacts for three references to msoley@wisc.edu.

Postdoctoral position for quantum computing experiments in semiconductor quantum dot qubits — Eriksson Group

The Eriksson group is seeking a quantum computing postdoc for experiments in semiconductor quantum dot qubits. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in physics and experience with experimental methods in solid-state quantum physics. These could include, for example, some of the following: experience with clean-room fabrication, high-frequency electronics, or cryogenics. In addition, the individual should be self-motivating and provide a positive and collaborative attitude in a lab atmosphere. Applicants should send a CV and cover letter to maeriksson@wisc.edu.

Postdoctoral Positions Available in Nanophotonics, Topological Photonics, Low-Temperature Molecular Spectroscopy, Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) for Photonics, and Single-Molecule Biophysics — Goldsmith Group

The Goldsmith group has multiple postdoctoral positions available at the intersection of molecular spectroscopy, quantum information science, and photonics. We have recently helped start a new Department of Energy funded center, the Center for Molecular Quantum Transduction, and will be exploring quantum processes in molecules strongly coupled to cavities at low temperatures. Other activities include development of cavity-enhanced single-molecule electronic and vibrational spectroscopies for observing chemical and biochemical reaction dynamics, interfacing of molecules with topological photonic crystals, single-molecule biophysical studies using nanophotonic devices, and development of CVD technologies for producing 3D photonic crystals. Qualified individuals will have a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or other related physical science.  Experience in low-temperature spectroscopy, photonics, electron beam lithography, and CVD instrumentation is particularly desirable but not required. Interested individuals should send a resume to Professor Randall Goldsmith.  Madison, on an isthmus between two lakes, is consistently ranked as one of the best college towns in the US, and was even listed among the 5 world’s great university towns by BBC travel.

Postdoc/Scientist Positions for Quantum Materials and Quantum Dynamics — Ping Group

The Ping Group at the University of Wisconsin – Madison (UW-Madison) invites applications for Postdoctoral Scholar openings of condensed matter and materials theory starting from July 1st, 2024. Under the direction of Prof. Yuan Ping, the Postdoctoral Scholar will develop theory and computational methods based on first-principles many-body theory  and recently developed ab-initio open quantum dynamics methods in her group, and apply them to a wide range of materials platform such as quantum defects as spin quibts, 2D materials, topological and magnetic materials, and halide perovskites. The projects are supported by NSF CAREER, DOE Computational Chemistry and DOE Computational Materials Science,  DOE EFRC, Moore Foundation, and DOD AFOSR awards. Senior position beyond the postdoc level is possible based on experiences; student mentoring and grant writing responsibilities are expected.

Applicants with expertise in condensed matter theory, materials theory, or physical chemistry and significant experience in any of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: developing numerical methods for excited states and correlated electrons in solids such as Green’s function methods (GW/BSE, DMFT), quantum Monte-Carlo, real-time TDDFT, electron-phonon coupling, spin dynamics, quantum transport, and having experiences in massively-parallel numerical implementations for advanced electronic structure methods.

DURATION OF POSITION

The appointment is renewable up to three years or more.
