- Preliminary Exam
- Analysis on ZZ vector boson polarization using CMS Run 2 data
- Time: 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
- Place: 5280 Chamberlin
- Speaker: Susmita Mondal, Department of Physics Graduate Student
- Abstract: Vector boson polarisation in production measurements serve as a first step to study longitudinal polarisation in vector boson scattering. This serves as both a crucial probe to study electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism and as a tool to look for new physics effects. This analysis aims for measurement polarisation of Z boson in ZZ production in the four lepton final state produced in proton-proton (pp) collisions at centre-of-mass energy of 13TeV using Run 2 data collected with Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector of Large Hadron Collider at CERN
- Summer Recess
- Time: 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm
- Place: Bascom Hill outside Birge
- Speaker: Sharon Kahn
- Abstract: Come take a break and play from 12:30-1 on Bascom Hill (outside of Birge)! Some of us will be walking up, leaving from the Charter St entrance ~12:25 – feel free to walk with us!
Cornhole, ladder toss, frisbee, juice boxes. . . .
Hope you’ll join us!
