Electron antineutrino scattering on protons: history, applications, and theoretical estimates
Date: Thursday, May 25th
Time: 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Place:
Speaker: Professor Francesco Vissani, INFN, Gran Sasso, Italy
Abstract: The reaction of electron antineutrinos with protons at rest, sometimes referred to as "inverse beta decay", is of great relevance to observations and very interesting from a theoretical point of view. In this seminar, we recall its compelling history, summarise its main applications, and discuss its modern precision measurements, focusing in particular on the most recent one: Ricciardi, Vignaroli, Vissani 2022 (JHEP 08, 212, e-Print: 2206.05567 [hep-ph])
