Abstract: The IceCube Neutrino Observatory has detected the first sources contributing to the diffuse flux of astrophysical neutrinos discovered in 2013. In this talk, I will present evidence that these neutrinos originate in the innermost regions of active galactic nuclei, where the X-ray corona surrounding the supermassive black hole acts as the target for photohadronic interactions. Using multiwavelength data, I will also argue that sources are gamma-ray obscured during neutrino production episodes. This is supported by constraints placed by IceCube's diffuse neutrino flux measurement using the Enhanced Starting Track Event Selection (ESTES), Medium Energy Starting Events (MESE), and CombinedFit datasets.
